The OTA Course Series

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)’s Operational Technology Assurance (OTA) instructional series provides participants with the skills they need to reduce the risk of cyber compromise to operational technology (OT) within the nuclear security enterprise.

OTA 100

OTA 100 is an introductory online course that presents the OTA process using the fictional Stinky Cheese Company case study. The goal of OTA 100 is to provide an introduction to the concept of OTA and to describe the main components of the OTA Guidebook approach to the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) OTA Assessment Process.

This course is open to anyone involved in assuring OT.

OTA 200

OTA 200 is an in-person training that applies the OTA process introduced in OTA 100. The goal of OTA 200 is to apply OTA process skills through the use of the Drizzle Cookie Company case study.

Who It’s For

The recommended audience is individuals who are accountable for overseeing teams conducting assessments or managing risks resulting from assessments. Additionally, those who require a comprehensive understanding of the assessment process to effectively carry out their responsibilities are recommended to complete the training. Cyber operations personnel are encouraged to attend.

OTA 301

This intensive 3.5-day course puts you in the assessor's seat and tasks you with evaluating mission-critical systems for the fictitious Vitricity Nuclear Corporation of Guathua.

Who It’s For

This course is for those who will apply the OTA Guidebook process to mission-critical systems, regardless of technical experience. This course is designed for all individuals who have a role in defining, designing, implementing, operating, securing, testing, and disposing of facilities, production systems, and testers throughout the NSE OT infrastructure.

Operational Technology Executive Communication (OTEC)

The NNSA’s Operational Technology Executive Communication (OTEC) introduces participants to a brief immersive learning experience that provides NSE leadership with a high-level understanding of the Operational Technology Assurance (OTA) process.

Using Meta Quest augmented reality Technology, participants are immersed into a vertigo-friendly learning environment where they can explore and interact with mission-critical systems in a fictional nuclear vitrification facility.
